Changes to the Friends of the Library Book Sale

Cart of discarded books

The Friends of the Library annual book sale is a much-loved event in our community.  Many people buy several boxes of books, enough to last them until the next sale!  It is always fun to watch them stream in at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.  The room fills up quickly with very serious  and excited buyers.

This year there will be a few changes.  Due to some conflicts with other May events such as the city-wide garage sale and Mother’s Day, the Friends have decided to hold the sale in April.  The dates will be:

Saturday, April 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday, April 12, 1 to 4 p.m.

In addition to changing the date of the sale, the Friends have also decided on a small increase in prices. For many years most books have been sold for a quarter apiece. This year most books will be sold for $0.50 a piece or 3 for $1.00. This includes tax. (Even though the FOL is a 501C3, they still have to pay state sales tax.) They will, as always, have a bag sale on Sunday from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
