Will Rogers Middle School Art Show at the Library
Students in Michelle Logan’s classes are first class artists, and they can prove it. Their art was on display at the library May 6th-13th.
The 112 middle school students are in grades 6 through 8. The artwork included various mediums, sculpture and subject matter. Mrs. Logan commented “With all of the cut backs in education, we have been blessed by a few individuals and groups to help us with art supplies, especially the Miami Arts and Humanities Council. They basically tripled our school budget, allowing me to provide my kids with enough mediums like clay, glazes, water color paper, plaster, and canvas, to last the year.” She expressed her thanks to all those groups and individuals that help support the arts for Miami schools.
The Miami Public Library is proud to be a part of the 66 Cultural District and has sponsored previous art shows as well as art classes for elementary school students. The District is being developed as a partnership between the Miami Arts and Humanities Council and the City of Miami. It began with a Cultural District Development grant awarded to the MAHC from the Oklahoma Arts Council, the official state agency for the support and development of the arts.
