Take advantage of these new classes offered by the Health Literacy Project!
The Health Literacy Project is a cooperative partnership between the Miami Public Library, Northeastern Tribal Health Systems, INTEGRIS Miami Hospital and Ottawa County Health Department. The Health Literacy Project is funded through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries with funds from Library Services and Technology Act, a Federal source of library funding provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
All classes are free, but you must register to attend. Call the library at 918-541-2292 to register.
Yoga for Beginners (at the library)
Mondays, 5:30 p.m.-6:15 p.m., Jan. 8-Feb. 12
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Mats will be provided. These classes will be taught by certified yoga instructor Donna Hale. CLASS FULL! Waiting list only.
Soup’s On! @ the Fire Station
Wednesday, Jan. 24, noon-1:00 p.m.
There’s nothing better than a bowl of hot soup on a cold winter day. And soup can be nutritious, inexpensive, and infinitely variable. Learn more about how to make healthful, delicious soups and sample some at this free workshop. This class will be taught by Pam Patty of INTEGRIS in OKC and will be held at the North Fire Station, 103 Goodrich Blvd.
Living with Diabetes (at the library)
Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., Jan. 16-Feb. 20
This six-week Diabetes Empowerment Education Program will provide you with tools to better manage your diabetes. You will learn how to reduces complications and lead a healthier, longer life. This program will be taught by Whitney McGhee, Community Health Educator of INTEGRIS Miami Hospital.
