We are excited to announce our annual fundraising initiative for the Ottawa County Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program. The Friends of the Library partner with local businesses to raise crucial funds for this program that fosters childhood literacy and a love for reading. This year, we are thrilled to extend an invitation to all local Ottawa County businesses to join us in our fundraising efforts. Your support can significantly impact the lives of children in our community. There are several ways your business can participate and contribute: -Set-Up a Donation Jar: A simple and effective way for customers to donate their spare change. -Donation Flyer with QR Code: We can provide a flyer with a QR code to make digital donations easy. -Percentage of Proceeds: Consider donating a percentage of your proceeds. For instance, donating 10% of sales between 3-4 PM (or all day long!). -Special Events: Participate in Dolly Day on January 16th by donating a portion of your sales, such as 25%. To add a little friendly competition, the business that collects the most donations by the end of January 29th will be awarded the Dolly Traveling Trophy for 2025. The winner will be announced January 31st. This is a wonderful way to celebrate your business's commitment to literacy and the community. For any questions, you can reach out by private message or contact the Miami Public Library at 918.541.2292. This outstanding initiative provides children under five with a free, age-appropriate book delivered to their door every month, culminating in 60 free books per child by the time they turn five. To qualify, children must be residents of Ottawa County and aged between birth and five years old. Impact and Reach As of September 2024, over 750 children have been enrolled in this life-changing program, with the potential to benefit as many as 2,633 children in Ottawa County each year. The cost to provide these books is $2.10 per book, equating to $25.20 per year for each child. Fundraising and Matching Program The Oklahoma Department of Education (ODE) has generously agreed to a 1-to-1 match for this program through 2024 and plans to continue this support beyond. This means that for each child enrolled, the Friends of the Library needs to raise $12.60 per year, with the ODE matching the other half. If support from the ODE ever ceases, the Friends would need to cover the full $25.20 per child per year. How You Can Help By attending the 2025 Fundraiser Auto Show, making a donation, or becoming a sponsor, you can play a significant role in fostering a love of reading among young children in Ottawa County. Your support will help ensure that more children receive the educational foundation they need to succeed. Join us in making a difference in the lives of our youngest community members while enjoying a day filled with incredible cars and community spirit.
