🌟 Have you ever wondered about the legend behind Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights? 🌟 Here is a little history we found on our EBSCO platform: Long ago in Ayodhya, North India, King Dashratha had a beloved son, Rama, who was the heir to the throne. However, one of the king’s wives, Kaikayi, wanted her own son Bharat to be king. She convinced the king to send Rama into the forest for 14 years. Heartbroken, Rama left with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman. In the forest, they lived a peaceful life until the evil Demon King Ravana kidnapped Sita. With the help of the mighty monkey Hanuman, Rama found and defeated Ravana, rescuing Sita. After 14 years, Rama returned to Ayodhya, where the people celebrated by adorning their homes with flowers, garlands, and thousands of diyas (oil lamps). This grand celebration marks the victory of good over evil and the return of hope and happiness. Diwali continues to be celebrated with the lighting of diyas and fireworks, symbolizing the removal of darkness and the joy of community.
